Farmers Barns is a family run enterprise which has grown over the past decade from a set of 5 self-catering cottages to a busy Wedding venue which can accommodate approximately 80 guests! We are situated in Rosedew Farm, a working farm the beautiful South Welsh coast - only a five minute walk from Cwm Colhuw beach, and a 10 minute walk to the historic town of Llantwit Major.
In 2010 we first renovated our original stone barns into bespoke holiday accommodation, falling into the wedding market later with our first wedding on the 26th of June 2011. With the continued demand for weddings here we expanded our capacity for accommodation first with six cosy self-catered lodges in 2012, adding 6 motel-style rooms in the Yard and six quaint shepherds huts, Farmers Arcs, in 2018.
Gaynor and Rhodri, who continue to farm around this venture, are both bi-lingual in Welsh and English - having both moved to the Vale from farming families in West Wales. From Rosedew, a number of other businesses have flourished not only limited to Farmers Pantry, Acorn Camping, Woodchip Wales and A La Carte which complement us here.

I grew up on a Welsh-speaking family farm in Necastle Emlyn, Carmathenshire. I have always been involved in hospitality as we even had holiday lets there! After training as a Norland Nanny I flew the nest and travelled the world, working aboard Super-Yachts and Luxury Villas. I married my now-husband Rhodri, in our local church followed by a reception on our farm and shortly after, in 1995, we moved to Rosedew Farm with our eldest child Dafi in tow. In the following years, we had two daughters, Delana and Megan, who now work alongside me in the family business. Farmers Barns was born in 2010 - and the rest is history!

I have lived at Rosedew all my life, and have been involved with the hospitality side of the family business since it began in 2010. Mum always had me changing beds and waitressing every weekend and throughout the summer holidays - school was a welcome break!! When I left Sixth Form in 2016, I worked full-time for Farmers Pantry, our Butchery business (who are also our exclusive Caterers!), before coming back to work full time with the Weddings. I now have my own little business hiring a variety of items that you can see on the website (under Del’s Hire), whilst also working as the head of the Front of House Staff on the day, and of course, I’m still making beds all these years later!
What do you love most about your job?
Working the days of the Weddings and getting to see the Barn all dressed up in different ways!
